Black Kite

Stepped out the front door to go and get some lunch, and saw eight or nine of these things circling quite low over our front yard and the school oval over the road. Thought I’d try my hand shooting them. The problem is the longest lens I have at the moment is my Zeiss 135mm. Which is manual focus. I gave it a shot anyway..

And I’m glad I did.

Two black kites circling over our front yard. Manual focus CZ 135mm on my 60D.

Had to do some cropping, because even though they were closer than they normally get, they were still a bit too far away for a 135mm. Next time I get a chance I’ll throw on my 2x M42 tele-converter, but I suspect the image quality won’t be good enough.
