It’s been over 18 months since I last posted here. And what an 18 months it has been.
My little family has been through so much in the last 18 months I don’t even know where to start. Our oldest son is being assessed for autism, our youngest was born in June and has already had two major reconstructive surgeries. My partner and I separated due to the pressure of watching our children go through so much, and in the process both of us discovered many confronting things about ourselves. I’ve just recently found out that I have a 9-year-old daughter that I didn’t know about, and am fighting through the process of confirming that and in the process dealing with someone who has hurt me more than I can describe in one post (the child’s mother hasn’t contacted me since she moved out of our shared home whilst I was away for medical appointments nearly 10 years ago – and now contacted me out of nowhere to say her daughter is mine).
It hasn’t all been bad though. Despite their struggles our two little boys are growing up too fast, and are very happy and confident. Stacey and I have reconciled after our separation, and are planning a wedding for our 10th anniversary in late February next year. We’ve adopted a lovely rescue puppy and he’s settling in well. And if it turns out that this child is mine then that’s very exciting as well – because who isn’t happy with having more kids in their lives?
The best part of the last 18 months though has been learning a hell of a lot about myself. I’m not quite ready to be talking publicly about it yet, but it’s coming, and there’ll be a slightly different direction for this site when that happens. I’ll still be buying old cameras and lenses, and I’ll still be making chainmaille, but there’ll be more additional stuff.
The future is exciting, and I’m looking forward to how things go from here.
