Every Child Is…

We took little Ivan outside for some photos today, since he's over 6 months old now and growing up so fast. We put him down on his play mat, and a couple of leaves blew onto it from the trees over the road. He was absolutely fascinated by the way they moved around in the breeze, and started picking up one, lifting it as high as he could, and dropping it whilst watching intently. Watching it made me think of a quote from Carl Sagan: Every kid starts out as a natural-born scientist, and then we beat it out of them. A few trickle through the system with their wonder and enthusiasm for science intact.

Little Ivan watching a leaf fall from his hands.

It’s my job to make sure that Ivan is one of those few.
